Wal-Mart: $640 million, IBM: $65 million, Siebel Systems: $27.5 million ... These aren’t sales or profit numbers. These are lawsuit damages each company was forced to pay for making avoidable overtime, payroll and other Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) mistakes. Even the EEOC – the federal agency that protects workers from bias – was recently found to have violated overtime law. If the feds can’t even get the law right, how are you supposed to understand it?
