The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) has announced that Texas will receive a $5 million grant to help respond to military base realignment and closures.

The DOL’s Employment and Training Administration awarded the money to the Texas Workforce Commission for assessment, counseling, case management, job training, certification, job placement and follow-up services. The money will help 3,727 Texas civilians employed by the U.S. Department of Defense.

The state will receive half of the $5 million initially. The rest of the money will be available as the state demonstrates need.
