Jack Canfield, co-author of the Chicken Soup book series, has plenty of advice on leadership and success.

One early inspiration was Canfield’s therapist, who taught him a formula called E + R = O, which stands for Events plus Response equals Outcome. The therapist told him, “If you don’t like your outcomes, quit blaming the events and start changing your responses.”

By way of example, the therapist suggested, “If the grass on the other side of the fence looks greener, start watering your own lawn.”
