Heading out? Craft a good auto-reply

When you’re going to be out of the office, it’s important to set up a good auto-reply to go out from your work email. Wired writer Christina Bonnington says yours should always:

Be concise. People emailing you need to know who to contact while you’re away. Don’t make them wade through unnecessary paragraphs to find out.

Include an ETA. Let people know when you’ll be back, so they won’t send you any more mail until you’ve returned to work.

Check for typos. This email will be read by everyone who tries to get in touch with you. How embarrassing would a typo be to such a wide audience?
