Succeed in a new leadership role

Before you accept that promotion into a leadership role, find out the answers to these questions:

How much support will you receive? Will you be thrown to the wolves? Or do you have access to training and a mentor? Will your boss be supportive?

Do you know how to be successful in the role? What are the expectations of the job? What will your goals be?

What are your new responsibilities? How much will your job change? Do you have the right skills? If not, how will you build them?

Takeaway: Don’t rush! Set yourself up for success by taking some time to fully understand what the new job will entail.
