Someone just handed you their business card. What you do next with it will speak volumes to the giver about your potential relationship with them. Never just stuff it into your pocket. Always look at it, make some sort of positive comment about it (nice logo!), and place it in a folder or your bag. This places value on the card, and ultimately, the person you just met as well.

When you send an email to multiple recipients asking for an opinion, always make it clear if you want replies to come only to you or to the whole group. Phrases like “Let me know what you think” leave questions about who should be let in on those opinions, which by their nature can be sensitive, even if they’re only about minor work matters.
