“Seeking a driven person who will do whatever it takes to tackle the job. At XYZ, we work hard, play hard.” This sentence may seem innocent enough, but according to Textio, which analyzes language in job posts, this includes four phrases that statistically result in higher applications from men: “driven person,” “whatever it takes,” “work hard, play hard,” and “tackle.” Which phrases statistically attract more female applicants? “comfortably,” “our family,” “lasting relationships” and “care deeply.”
