Google is a go according to corporate titans like Colgate-Palmolive and Verizon, as both companies have begun their migration to G Suite, Google’s office productivity suite of tools. Appliance giant Whirlpool has already moved to Google. But are organizations really dumping Microsoft in favor of Google? While some are, Colgate-Palmolive and Verizon both moved from IBM’s Notes and Domino.
The introduction of Office 365 by Microsoft was, in part, an answer to the collaborative nature of Google apps. Essentially Google was cloud before cloud was cool. Before Microsoft’s purchase of SkyDrive and the ultimate rebranding of it as OneDrive, if you wanted to easily share, you went Google. If you wanted to play your cards (and data) close to the vest, you went Microsoft or IBM.
