The former head of the Perry County, Pennsylvania Probation Office faces two third-degree felony theft charges after he gave himself an advance for work to be performed. The man was arrested after probation office deputies noticed $3,300 missing from a DUI account he administered.

Upon investigation, the state Attorney General’s office found two year’s worth of checks written to the office head, his family and the farm he runs on the side. The man admitted he was experiencing financial difficulties and paid himself in advance for highway safety classes he was going to teach.

He resigned after the missing funds were discovered. He was arrested last fall and released on his own recognizance pending a hearing.
