Trump DOL nominees to testify before HELP Committee

Following a lengthy hiatus, efforts to confirm Trump administration appointees to the Department of Labor appear to be getting back on track. The Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions was scheduled to hold confirmation hearings Jan. 11 on these nominations:

  • William Beach for commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics
  • Scott Mugno for assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health
  • Patrick Pizella for deputy labor secretary
  • Cheryl Stanton for administrator of the Wage and Hour Division.

Of 14 Department of Labor positions requiring Senate confirmation, nine remain unfilled. Vacancies for which the administration has yet to designate a nominee include assistant secretary for employment and training, assistant secretary for disability employment policy, assistant secretary for policy and assistant secretary for veterans employment and training.
