Update: President’s travel ban, helping employees in need

This month we provide an update on the Trump administration’s travel ban as well as information on how employers can help employees experiencing financial crises.

Travel ban 3.0

On Sept. 24, Trump issued “Presidential Proclamation Enhancing Vetting Capabilities and Process for Detecting Attempted Entry into the United States by Terrorists or Other Public-Safety Threats.”

It replaces a previous travel ban implemented earlier this year via Executive Order 13780.

Affected countries

The new proclamation applies to a total of eight nations: Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen. Notably, Iraq and Sudan have been removed from the ban list set by the previous order, although the proclamation recommends “additional scrutiny” for Iraqi nationals seeking permission to travel to the United States.
