A former female partner at the Saltz Matkov law firm in Wayne, Pa., alleges two male partners conspired to pay her less than they earned despite a contract requiring all three to be paid equally.
She claims at one time she was bringing in half of the firm’s business. She alleges her agreement with the other two partners called for a $60,000 base salary, $3,000 per month in expenses and one-third of the firm’s distributed profits. However, she alleges the firm gave a raise to the male partners without raising her pay and cut the credit limit on her American Express card.
The disagreement, however, appears to be about more than pay.
According to the woman’s EEOC complaint, the male partners attempted to have the office’s locks changed to prevent her from entering the premises.
The complaint alleges the partners also sent a letter barring the woman’s husband from entering the firm’s offices as well.
Other complaints paint a picture of apparently cruel schoolboy pranks. For example, the complaint claims one of the firm’s partners moved a sofa in front of her office door to lock her in.
