One of the first women to be promoted to captain in the Minneapolis Fire Department has filed suit claiming her former superior, also a captain, sexually harassed her. She claims the male captain’s antics earned him the nickname “The Groper.”

Her lawsuit seeks $50,000 in damages for “economic harm, loss of income and benefits, humiliation, mental and emotional distress, and other pain and suffering.”

The female captain has filed discrimination suits against the department before, alleging ongoing gender discrimination and retaliation against her for filing complaints. One such lawsuit was reportedly settled for $97,500. The Minneapolis City Council also reportedly settled a workers’ compensation dispute with her for $135,000 for on-the-job injuries she sustained.
