Have you met someone who was just easy to talk to? You felt comfortable and opened up to the person? If you’d like to have that same effect on others, take this advice:

Let other people have the spotlight. Instead of going on and on about yourself, make other people the center of attention by asking questions and then listening to what they have to say. Eventually, you will have a turn to share.

Don’t suppress your emotions. Let people know how you’re feeling about what they’re saying. Just keep your emotions in check, and refrain from becoming angry or upset.

Be open-minded. Even if you staunchly disagree with what they’re saying, see their side. Respectfully offer your own viewpoint, but don’t force people to accept your opinion.

Talk about something that just happened to you. With it fresh in your mind, you will be more animated and descriptive, and that is engaging. However, don’t share intimate details or be too negative, as both can be off-putting.
