Q. Our Pennsylvania company wants to begin screening applicants for illegal drugs. Can we make job offers conditional on the results of a drug test?

A. Yes, in Pennsylvania it is permissible to drug test applicants. You should impose the requirement on all applicants, or all applicants for certain positions.  And, you should act consistently—don’t reject certain applicants who fail the drug test, but hire others.
