Copy Excel data into Word … and actually make it work

When you copy Excel data and try to paste it into a Word table, you may be unpleasantly surprised with the results. Look for the paste options dialog box that pops up (little clipboard). Click it, or hit the Ctrl key to reveal the options. Press the second option to Merge Table. That should look better.

If you paste the Excel data without a target table, it determines the dimensions by the content. You can easily stretch it to fit the page width by clicking the AutoFit button, the Cell Size group of the Layout Table Tools contextual tab.
