OSHA rule pushes electronic injury and illness reports

A new final OSHA rule, published May 11, required large employers to maintain electronic records of workplace injuries and illnesses and submit OSHA reports electronically. The goal: To make it easier for OSHA to post the reports on its website.

Just as important, the rule includes harsh anti-retaliation measures that critics say could embolden crank whistleblowers. The rule dictates new measures employers must take to prevent retaliation.
