Development days are an excellent way to build employees’ skills and knowledge, while boosting engagement across the board. Plan one today:
- Pick an ideal location. Choose a place where people can move around and be noisy if need be, but where they will also be comfortable. If possible, go somewhere away from the workplace.
- Set expectations for the day. Prior to the event, explain to employees what you want them to get out of the event. Also, send an agenda that outlines the plan for the day and the goals for each session.
- Plan activities that involve everyone. Don’t book a keynote speaker or have a trainer lecturing all day. Instead, plan challenges and role playing games where teams work together to achieve goals. Hands-on activities that require everyone’s participation are best.
