Email remains the go-to office form of communication, but a new generation of platforms might fit the bill to offer a better way to communicate.

Here are three tools to consider when updating your internal and external communications:

  • Yammer. This enterprise social network has been around for a while and is set up for inner office communications or collaborations. You can communicate in your office or in a particular group that you have created, post messages with files, documents or more attached, so group members can view them. You can also send private messages to certain individuals.
  • Slack. This platform is a full-chat system where channels replace long email threads. The app has allowed some companies to nearly replace all emails. A key feature is its approach to integrating 3rd party apps and services. You can centralize notifications from all services into one searchable place where your team can discuss and take action.
  • XROS. This fast, easy-to-use message platform gives you instant visibility over everything that’s going on. And you could instantly add any contact from any company to any channel. It’s a streamlined, professional alternative for external communications. XROS provides a messaging platform for external professional contacts so all of your contacts can join discussion channels instantly. When you add contacts, they simply get a link, click it and they’re in.
