When looking for the next generation of leaders in your workplace, ask yourself:

  1. Do they anticipate and think through complex conditions?
  2. Do they talk about how trends might affect your work?
  3. When they talk about wins, do they say who contributed and what everybody learned?
  4. Do they seem introspective, or able to reflect on things?
  5. When they discuss turnarounds, do they talk about people and processes that helped?
  6. Do they think collaboratively?
  7. Do they consider emotional intelligence?
  8. Do they strive to improve themselves?
  9. How do they keep calm in tough situations?
