Employees at Zurich Insurance test drove four new office designs for 12 weeks as part of designing their new office building. The new designs included 22 different features for employees to try, including quiet zones, a social hub for lunch, flexible size conference spaces and bar-height standing work spaces, says Forbes Anne Fisher.

Employees were free to move about as their projects dictated. The best features will be included in the new design. Employees say they were more productive because they could collaborate and socialize more freely, reducing the need for formal meetings and multiple emails when short conversations would suffice.
