Men have recovered all of the jobs they lost in the recession and now hold more jobs than at their pre-recession peak, according to an Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR) analysis of the December employment report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).

Women surpassed their previous employment peak in September 2013.

In an analysis of job growth in the first five years of the recovery, IWPR found that men and women have both gained the most jobs in industries with mid-level wages, (such as professional and business services) or low wages (such as leisure and hospitality), and have seen slower job growth (or losses) in higher paying industries, such as information, financial services and most significantly, government.
