Is your organization truly ethical from the ground up? If employees are acting unethically, it can lead to drains on your budget, employee morale and team productivity. Assess the ethical nature of your organization by answering these questions: 

  • How do you treat your customers? Do the actions of management and your policies and procedures show staff that you value the customer? Train all employees—even those who don’t interact with customers—on customer service. Emphasize respect and gratitude, and adopt policies of honesty and treat customers with fairness.
  • How do you treat your employees? Treat your employees well so that they feel valued. Ensure that HR policies are fair across the board and rooted in good ethics. When employees feel appreciated and that they are being treated fairly, they are satisfied and less likely to take from the company or abuse the personal use of company property.
  • How do you treat your competitors? Show employees that you have good business ethics even when it comes to your competitors. Don’t bad-mouth competitors or lie about them.
