There’s one sure way to lose an audience during your introduction: Talk about yourself. Just because the audience is there to hear you speak doesn’t mean they care about you.

So talk about what they care most about: themselves. Show that you understand their goals, their challenges and their concerns. Then move on to explaining how listening to your remarks will benefit them. Weave your expertise into your presentation without stating your credentials upfront.
