leadershipThere’s no shortage of leadership training utilizing traditional norms of how to motivate, engage and manage employees, but as some scientific research and tactics of successful leaders prove, it sometimes pays to go against the grain, and experiment with unorthodox management tactics. Here’s a look at some “out of the box” management tactics that get results.

1. Limit meeting sizes. Meet­­ings should serve a purpose, as should everyone who attends. Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos reportedly guides his meeting invite list with the “two pizza” rule: No meeting should include more attendees than two pizzas can feed (six to eight attendees). The idea is to ensure everyone in the room has a purpose for being there, given the meeting’s objective.
