Fort Worth-based Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad has agreed to pay a North Dakota employee $30,000 in back pay to settle an OSHA whistle-blower complaint he filed against the railroad.

According to the man’s complaint, he suffered an injury on the job, reported it to his supervisors and submitted a physician’s treatment plan. Eventually the man was fired.

OSHA investigated and concluded the firing was in retaliation for reporting the injury.
