Female executives in emerging nations have had more success breaking the glass ceiling, according to Grant Thornton’s 2014 “Women in Business” report. The percentage of female leaders is highest in Russia (43%), followed by Indonesia and Latvia (41%).

Women hold 24% of senior leadership jobs in organizations worldwide. Women occupy 22% of U.S. top jobs.

In contrast, the lowest percentages occur in old guard economies: Switzerland (13%), the Netherlands (10%) and Japan (9%).
