Walmart has announced it will stop offering health insurance benefits next year to part-time employees working less than 30 hours per week—about 5% of the retail giant’s workers.

Critics accused Walmart of mistreating low-wage workers. Walmart pointed out that part-timers who lose coverage will be eligible to buy coverage through the Affordable Care Act health insurance exchanges, which should save them money—in some cases, more than $100 per month.
