Like many trucking companies, family-owned National Retail Systems is having trouble recruiting new drivers to take over for employees who retire.
So it’s asking truck drivers where they are applying for jobs, how many jobs they’re trying for at a time and what entices them to fill out applications.
The company is sending a survey to its extensive database of truck drivers and former job applicants.
The survey is part of an all-out recruitment campaign that involves hiring fairs, fliers, banners, blogging, social media, targeted emails and mobile applications.
“Recruitment in the year 2014 is not like how it was 20 years ago, where one newspaper ad would suffice to hire your operation’s needs,” notes Marketing Director Chris Saville.
