Is loyalty in the workplace a thing of the past? Absolutely not! In fact, genuine loyalty might be easier to find today than it was in the old days, when workers had fewer options. But it is something that doesn't hap­pen automatically; managers have to work at building team loyalty. The rewards of doing so are immense—less turnover, more productivity, higher morale, and all the rest.

Here are some strategies that can help:

Clear goals make better teams. Managers who are good at communi­cating exactly what needs to be done, and what needs to be done better, make it easy for employees to do a good job. That makes it easier for them to be proud of their work, of their team and of their workplace.
