Bottom-line idea: Staff meetings

Never start staff meetings by giving opening remarks. Instead, turn the floor over to employees. Ask, “What burning issues are on your mind?” or “Who wants to report big news since our last meeting?”

Letting the group drive the discussion from the outset enlivens the proceedings. Use the final 10 minutes of the meeting to say what you want to say. People tend to remember what comes last, so your parting words will stick with your staff.
