Ohio residents had one of the nation’s lowest per capita state tax rates in 2009, according to the watchdog web site Taxadmin.org. Ohio ranked 35th in state per capital taxes last year, the same ranking it held in 2008.

Overall, state tax revenue was $23,952,000 in 2009, down from $26,374,000 in 2008.

The per capita tax burden stood at $2,075 in 2009. That’s $221 less per capita than in 2008.

On a percentage basis, Ohio taxpayers spent 5.8% of their personal income on state taxes in 2009.
