If you require workers to go through a security check at the end of their shifts, don’t try to count that as unpaid time.

Best Buy recently agreed to a $902,000 class-action settlement that resolves claims that the company didn’t pay workers in New York stores for minutes spent in those security check lines.

The suit claimed that employees sometimes waited 15 minutes to be searched after each shift.
