In a conclusion to a lurid case that has made headlines for more than two years, former Hillsborough County legislative assistant Alyssa Ogden has been awarded $75,000 for enduring constant sexual propositions from County Commissioner Kevin White.

When she refused his advances, she was terminated—and then she sued.

The county defended itself by arguing the commissioner’s behavior was beyond the scope of his official duties and that the legislative assistant never filed a complaint for the county to investigate. The jury was apparently unmoved by these weak and contradictory arguments.

A post-trial settlement called for the county to pony up an additional $203,000 in attorneys’ fees.
