A former Greensboro police officer has repaid $16,600 that disappeared from a fund he directed. David Andrew Moore made the payment after being found guilty of failing to discharge his duties.

Moore’s attorney told the court his client had simply not kept very careful track of expenses, but never intentionally took any of the money. Moore received probation and no longer works for the Greensboro Police Department.

He had been a police sergeant for 22 years and had directed Safety Town, a day care safety camp for young boys and girls. The missing funds were intended to pay for Safety Town programs.
