When your organization faces obstacles, don’t leave employees in the dark. Your team will work better if everyone knows the specific issues and why a certain course was chosen to correct it.

Bill Shaw, president of World Class Shipping, saw that communication across the company network was not always reliable or efficient. To ensure that essential messages would get through, he spelled out the problem.

“I wanted everyone to know we understood they faced a tremendous challenge,” Shaw says, and that he believed they would get on top of it.

Painting a clear picture of the challenge will encourage collaboration and give everyone a chance to help design a solution.
