The Fayetteville Public School District is investigating a teacher at Mary McArthur Elementary School who told a student “your daddy could stay in the military for another hundred years” if John McCain were elected president.

The district has plenty of evidence for its investigation, since Diatha Harris made the remarks in front of a Scandinavian film crew, which was shooting a documentary. The video ultimately wound up where all damning video footage goes—the Internet.

In the video, Harris launches a political discussion with her fifth-grade class, some whose parents are soldiers at nearby Fort Bragg. When two students said they supported McCain, Harris said, “Oh, Jesus.” It went downhill from there.

Superintendent Bill Harrison posted his own videotaped statement online, assuring parents “this will be thoroughly investigated and appropriate action will be taken.”
