If your peers and employees see that you act differently when you’re around the CEO, you’ll lose credibility.

Example: If you start nodding and smiling and agreeing with everything the “big cheese” says, but you rarely nod or smile when talking with others, you’ll become a laughingstock.

Be yourself around heavy hitters. Don’t put on airs or wear a different face. If you figure it’s best to avoid slouching or daydreaming when the boss starts talking with you, then stop that behavior all the time.
