Here’s an easy way to decide whether to take a new job: Apply the BIG test. Ask yourself these three questions:

Do I buy in? You must accept the premise that the new position will help you learn, grow and thrive. Don’t try to manufacture pride or excitement in a job if you don’t feel it.

Do the new bosses inspire me? In interviews, your would-be bosses should infuse you with energy and enthusiasm. If they seem drab, insincere or political, forget about it.

Does my gut tell me to take the job? Instincts matter when you’re weighing a new job. Listen to your gut. If you have a vague feeling that the job just isn’t right for you, heed that message.

If you answer yes to the three BIG questions (Buying into the job, Inspiring bosses and Gut-approval), then you’re ready to take the plunge.
