1. Answer questions head-on. When bosses need information, they want it now. They’ll admire you for giving them accurate, concise information without fluff. When they ask you a question, make sure your first sentence provides an answer. If you don’t know the answer, say so and add that you’ll find out.
2. Keep a secret. Show discretion when a boss reveals confidential matters. Don’t tell a soul, not even friends outside of work.
3. Be a spy. Bosses love employees who serve as their eyes and ears. Information such as “the CEO’s in a bad mood today” or “I overheard that consultant speak highly of you” gives your boss an edge.
