Before you hit the Send button to e-mail your résumé, increase the odds it will enhance your reputation as a hotshot.

First, write “[Your name] résumé” in the subject line. Resist blustery subject lines, such as “The answer to your prayers.” Also send your cover letter and résumé in two ways: in the body of the e-mail and as an attachment. Never send your résumé from a PC at your workplace, and never give out your work e-mail address. You never know when someone at work will snoop at your messages.
