How effectively are you conveying the image that you strive to build as a leader? To find out, perform this simple test over the next workday:

Read aloud everything you write, from e-mails to meeting notes.

You’ll be surprised to learn that some of your language comes across as too close-minded (“That’s not possible,” instead of “Do you think that’s possible?”) or too hesitant (“I believe we’re on the right track,” instead of “We are on the right track.”).

After a day of reading your words aloud, the changes you need to make will become evident.
