Many employees go underappreciated for their amazing dedication. Others are inclined to become extraordinary employees but their hands are tied.

When you see people who do an unusually good job, go above and beyond the call of duty, make insightful suggestions and truly seem to care … hire them.

Ask these key questions to ferret out exceptional hires:
  • “Who are your heroes? Why?”

  • “Why would anyone do more than is necessary?”

Here are the questions to ask yourself about a potential hire:
  • “What do I remember most about this person?”

  • “What’s the most extraordinary thing he’s done?”

  • “If I hire him, how badly will his old team miss him?”
