Got a great idea, but can’t overcome a “problem” your boss sees with it?

Unless you push ahead, the forces of inertia will bog you down, and one of the most powerful forces of inertia is objections. Here’s the answer: Don’t even try to address your boss’s problem ... at least until you ask these two questions:

1. “If I could convince you that solving this problem was really important, how would you do it?” That gets the boss not only into the game but on your side.

2. “If we can overcome this problem, can you see any other reason not to move ahead?” That commits the boss to put up or shut up.
