The trouble is Erin hasn’t seen a change in her job title. Should she ask for one?
Perhaps. But there might not be a title that fits her duties, or her boss may not have the power to give it to her.
Instead, Erin could open a conversation and say, “Where do you see me headed within the company? What do you see as my strengths and areas for more development?”
That allows Erin to (a) see herself as her boss sees her, (b) plot a career path that her boss can support and (c) raise the issue of salary, if it’s a concern.
