Organizations that become the best at what they do share these four outlooks, according to a recent Accenture study:
  1. Refusing to let industry conditions drag them down. Leading companies step far ahead of competitors despite sector conditions.

  2. Being the right size, but not necessarily the biggest. Size sometimes translates to a dominant position, but not always. The real keys are increasing performance and profitability.

  3. Willingness to move toward higher performance. Successful organizations strive to improve, even though the benefits may not be felt until the future.

  4. Unwillingness to accept the status quo. “We are doing well enough,” is the kind of thinking that gets organizations stuck in the mud.
