The sluggish economy of recent years has helped encourage more employees to come to work, even while they're sick. Nearly 77 percent of employees say they've shown up to work when ill, says a recent poll by ComPsych Corp. The top reasons: Their workload makes it too difficult to take time off, and they feel it's too risky to take off in the current work environment. The study said sick employees coming to work actually causes more sickness among employees, which decreases productivity in the long term.
