The U.S. House of Representatives voted 402-17 last month in favor of the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, which would expand the class of employees who are considered “disabled” under the ADA.

The bill would essentially overturn court rulings in recent years that narrowed the definition of an ADA-covered disability. The legislation makes clear that Congress intended the ADA’s coverage to be broad. Final passage in the U.S. Senate is likely, and President Bush has said he’ll sign the bill.
