When Krista Cooney, a Comcast customer in western Pennsylvania, sent the company a check made out for “My Right Arm and Zero Dollars” to protest her cable bill, she thought she'd had the last laugh.

But Cooney contends an unidentified employee at Comcast posted an electronic copy of the check on the Internet along with a snide comment. A Colorado man concerned about identity theft saw the image and alerted Cooney that her name, address, phone number and banking information were being circulated online.

Cooney filed a lawsuit against Philadelphia-based Comcast for invasion of privacy. Comcast said it has apologized to Cooney and is working to address her concerns.
