The Texas Health Institute recently released a report that provides several cost-effective policy solutions for providing insurance to the 5.6 million state residents who don’t carry health insurance.
The report, A Vision for Change: Policy Solutions for Increasing Health Coverage in Texas, can be found at www.texashealthinstitute.org.
The report says on-site medical clinics are just one solution that many large employers have begun to utilize. Providing basic routine health care for employees allows employers to cut expenses by directly contracting with medical providers and reducing administrative costs.
For an on-site clinic to be affordable, the report says, employers should employ at least 750 people. A possible alternative for smaller employers would be near-site clinics.
